So as the title suggests, my wife and I are hosts here in Livermore, CA. The original wine country of CA.😁
We recently received a notice from the City that we need to file for an STR permit and begin collecting 8.5% TOT to pay to the city quarterly, as well as advertise that our property is licensed, etc.
We've been hosts off and on, for 6 years to this point and have had zero problems with anyone, either neighbors or officials.
First, I'd love to connect with any of our fellow hosts in the area, and secondly, how are you all dealing with this "new" requirement? We are feeling that this tax is effectively pricing us out of the market as when you tally our nightly rate + Airbnb fees + TOT, the total makes our little space unaffordable.
There are other topics that I'm sure will come up as well, but we'd love to hear from other hosts in the Tri-Valley area. Airbnb host discussion boards have been basically non existent for this specific area, so here we are!
