truist put a hold on a cashier's check?

hi,

i don't bank with truist, but my mother does. we currently live in kansas so we cannot visit a branch in person. i was issued a cashier's check, with her name on it as well. she attempted a mobile deposit on sunday, the funds were held. when she called yesterday, a representative on the phone told her there as no more hold on the deposit/funds and she could expect them in her account today. this morning, the funds were briefly available in her checking account, then a hold was placed on the amount again.

she called and the woman on the phone basically said she doesn't know why there was a hold, how long the hold is for and that there isn't anything that can be done. the cashier's check was from my bank account here in kansas. is there anything anyone recommends we do? i think i might be SOL since we can't visit a branch in person to resolve the issue. would having my bank here get in contact with truist (so truist can verify that the funds are legitimate/the check was not a scam) do anything?

any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. i'm a college student and i need the money the check was for to pay for college expenses.
