Bain TestGorilla for non-target uni - Networking or Focus on Test?
I applied for the Associate Consultant / Associate Consultant Intern (AC/ACI) position at Bain earlier this month, and I’ve just received an invitation to complete the TestGorilla assessment by June 1st. I’m quite excited that my CV was progressed to this stage.
However, I recently heard from a Southeast Asian MBB community that apparently everyone who applies to Bain gets invited to the TestGorilla assessment, and that candidates from non-target universities (universities not listed in Bain Campus recruiting) may not proceed to interviews regardless of test performance.
I’m applying to the Vietnam office, and my university in Vietnam is not one of the listed target schools.
Given this situation, would it make sense for me to proactively network for example, cold emailing or connecting with Bain consultants/managers/partners to improve my chances of getting a first-round interview?
Or is the best strategy simply to focus on performing as well as possible on the assessment itself?
Would really appreciate honest insights from anyone familiar with Bain SEA recruiting.
