It happens when I am completely stopped and then start accelerating.

At the very beginning of the video it does not happen, this is what I expect.

However, the next two times I come to a stop and then start, you can hear the clunk.

Can you all sanity check me on whether this is normal because I’m pretty sure it’s not normal, I’ve never heard a car make a noise like this.

It’s a brand new 2026 Corolla hybrid

I had been noticing some leaves getting stuck on that black cover near the rear brake light. I popped it off today gently and cleaned all the crap out from under it.

What I don’t understand is how all this shit got in there.
This has gotta be a known issue

Is there any way to prevent this or do I just have to pop it off every few months to clean it?

I will say that the thing did not pop off very easily. I feel like I just about, broke/bent some of those thin plastic clips.

This is the 2026 Corolla that I’ve had for just a few months
