6 months into my first year, and I honestly feel like I’m underperforming even though most people around me (including client-facing people) see me as polished, competent, and well-spoken. I get my work done and the larger team likes me and I get compliments on how much responsibility I’ve taken so early.
I’ve had a lot of internal team/responsibility changes already, but I know one of my biggest weaknesses is being scatterbrained. I’ve missed a compliance training, overlooked emails a couple times, and recently got harsh feedback from my manager saying other analysts are more organized and proactive.
Now performance ratings are coming up, and I’m worried my organizational mistakes are overshadowing everything else.
Is this normal first-year growing pain, or is this more serious than I think? How badly do mistakes like this actually affect early career progression?
