Trip Report May 14-16
Squeezed in a few days - flew in and out Fresno. Stayed at Housekeeping Camp.
Day 1: Did Yosemite Falls - was a great hike, actually thought the view in the middle was the best but still fun to go up to the top.
Day 2: Half dome - was too excited to sleep well so walked from housekeeping camp to the Mist trail at 3:30 AM, topped out on Half Dome around 6:45, had a permit but rangers weren’t there on my way up or down. Can’t say enough good things, walking up the mist trail getting soaked while the head lamp made the mist drop was something I’ll always remember. Loved the bit of the hike from the top of Nevada to the sub dome, lots of flats with some gentle uphills. Was surprised how packed it was on the summit even in the morning! Napped a bit on my way back and then just wandered the valley trail for a bit. Saw a bear and its cub near lower Yosemite falls.
Day 3: Top of Nevada falls - so crowded at the beginning but it thinned out, was super crowded on the way down, but it is an amazing hike.
