My cover band is pivoting away from classic rock towards more soulful, classic and modern dance pop & R&B (T.Swift, Raye, Dua Lipa). I’m very excited about this and actually enjoy this genre most. Generally, for gigs I play 1 up/1 down, with 3-4 cymbals mounted on 2 stands.

I’m considering adding a Roland SPD-SX to be able to add some fun digital sounds (808, percussion, etc.). Has anyone here gone through a similar transition, and what has been your experience? (especially live)

Apart from adding more gear to the mix, what are some other pros and cons that might not be immediately clear?
