Hey guys. Moving to a new apartment in Chicago (within the city) and my lease has this in it.

Firearms. To the extent permitted by Federal, State, or Local law or ordinance, it shall be a material lease violation for any tenant, family member, household member, guest

or person under tenant’s control to possess, display, threaten to possess or display a firearm, ammunition, explosive devise or firework(s) on the premises or common areas.

It’s from a large rental/property management company. I don’t want to ask if it’s okay that I have my handguns (in a safe) in my apartment because……..well, you know. I don’t need to advertise my stuff. I own them legally and everything. But should I be concerned? Should I ask them to remove that from the lease? I never saw that in my leases before.

Edit: I gotta say I love how the 2A crowd shows up for each other. It’s really helpful to hear your different advice. I don’t know yet what I’m going to do. I don’t want them to negate the lease if I ask for an amendment. I have a stop box and security cameras so I might just go that route and hope for the best. Crazy how difficult it is just to get a good place to live that is affordable enough in this city.
