Recommend me movies with great music

Some films have great stories. Some have great visuals.

And then there are films where the music becomes part of the storytelling itself.

I was listening to songs from Begin Again today and realized how many films I remember through their music.

What movie, in your opinion, uses music better than any other?

I'm not necessarily looking for musicals, just movies where the music feels like an essential part of the experience.

It could be an original soundtrack, a score, or simply a film that introduced you to songs you still listen to today.

I'd love some recommendations...

I can't believe I only discovered Sabse Peeche Hum Khade by Silk Route a few months ago

I somehow missed this song for years and only discovered Sabse Peeche Hum Khade by Silk Route a couple of months ago.

Since then, it's become one of those songs I keep returning to. There are tracks you enjoy for a while and move on from, but this one has really stuck with me. The atmosphere is just beautiful, calm, wistful, a little lonely, and incredibly immersive. It feels like the kind of song that's best listened to during a quiet evening walk or while staring out of a window on a rainy day.

What's interesting is that nothing about it feels flashy. The vocals, the acoustic guitar, the overall arrangement, everything is so understated, yet it creates such a strong mood. Every time I listen to it, it feels like the song gives me a little more than it did the previous time.

Maybe I'm late to the party, but I'm glad I found it.

Also, I was surprised to discover that the original album version is so hard to find online now. The movie version is easy to find, but not this one.

For anyone who hasn't heard it, here's the version I've been listening to

What's your favorite Wong Kar-wai film?

I’ve been revisiting Wong Kar-wai’s filmography, and honestly, In the Mood for Love has got to be my personal favorite. The visuals, the music, the subtle tension, and the way every frame feels like a painting… it’s just unmatched.

I’d love to hear what your favorite Wong Kar-wai film is and why. Is it the romance of In the Mood for Love, the raw emotion of Fallen Angels, or something else entirely?
