I actually feel so conflicted right now.
I used to work for a call centre and the client's from the US. We worked outbound (iirc this meant calling potential clients).
We were calling random people asking if they've renewed their Medicaid or not. That's the government provided healthcare in the US. The thing is I don't even know if what we worked for was legitimately to help people renew their Medicaid insurance.
It just felt too weird that we were calling people with different numbers and convincing them to renew their insurance. We weren't even paid well and I left after working with them for 3 months because of all the micromanaging and the low pay. It technically wasn't a scam since they were able to pay us but I want to know if I worked with them to scam other people.
The guilt eats me alive because I've talked to a lot of vulnerable citizens such as PWDs and veterans that don't even get the benefits they were promised.
Everyday I think about the time I used to work with them. It's been a year or two since my time there. I wish I stood up against them or something before getting fired. Then again I don't know. I've searched it up a lot of times if whatever we did was actually normal protocol but I've seen a lot of posts indicating that US citizens should never answer calls regarding their insurance. I think I know the answer to my question already, but I need another perspective to really drill the idea into my head.
