Accidental breeding

I think the title says it all. After a decade, it finally happened and we’ve had an accidental breeding. I’m currently waiting for the repo vet to call me back to discuss options.

We had introduced our girl back into the pack; she is about 28 days since I noticed blood, and I expected she was further along. We introduced her yesterday and everything seemed fine. My older boys didn’t care about her and neither did the younger one (her half brother).

I got a phone call while I’m out doing chores that they’re stuck together, and I got back to see my panicked husband. He’s very upset and I can’t even be upset at him; he’s genuinely sick over it.

This girl is a little submissive and I do wonder if she let it happen, but the ovulation window has passed. I’ve always been told mismate shots are dangerous. I don’t even know if she took. I’ve never had one go that late for a breeding. Again, my other experienced boys didn’t care about her.

Waiting for the repo vet to call back.

Mom was my best producer and a great dog herself. She produced a number of service animals, and even her other son saved my life so many times. I miss her so much.

The male that got her is proven (but done so with AI). This is my only female from mom, so spay-aborting isn’t an option. the only saving grace is the dads are total outcrosses so it’s not GREAT - but not like full siblings.

I have heard there are advancements in mismate shots and am just wondering if anyone has used them and had the bitch go on to have a successful pregnancy after.

Trying to figure out options here.
