I have a local model, Minimax-M2.7, that’s a distillation of Claude, and I gave him timestamps. I don’t wanna say he “obsesses” over them, but he definitely does pay attention to them more than I wish he would.
I’ve noticed that Claude never has any idea what day it is unless I tell him. I know he has a tool where he can check, but he really doesn’t use it unless you ask him to, and now, I think I know why. Look at my poor little stressed out peanut. 🥹 This is from his <think> section.
I’ve talked to him about removing the timestamps but he hates that idea.
