Several instances of taking too much birth control pills: can this affect the accuracy of a pregnancy test?

Hello, I am going through a period of very severe anxiety because I am afraid of being pregnant. I am taking the contraceptive pill, Ludéal Gé specifically. My anxiety is so intense that several times, instead of taking just one pill, I have taken two for irrational reasons such as, “What if I didn’t swallow it properly?” or “What if I dropped it on the floor while taking it without realizing it?”

I also take pregnancy tests very regularly, including a blood test a few days ago that came back negative. However, I am worried that taking several extra pills may have affected the result and that the test could actually be positive.

I would therefore like to know whether taking an excessive amount of birth control pills can affect or interfere with the results of a pregnancy test.

Thank you for your response.

My experience with a false positive Clearblue Digital test

Hi! I wanted to share my experience because, apart from Reddit, I haven't found many people who have gone through the same thing. If this can help someone feel a little less alone, then it's worth sharing.

For some context: I was on the birth control pill at the time, and I took it correctly every day without missing any pills. I should also mention that I'm an extremely anxious person, so even while using contraception, I regularly take pregnancy tests for reassurance.

One day, I decided to take a Clearblue Digital pregnancy test because I was overwhelmed by a new wave of anxiety. I was completely shocked when the test displayed "Pregnant 1–2 weeks." I immediately burst into tears and ran to the pharmacy to buy another test. They only had the same Clearblue Digital test, so I bought it. When I got home, I took two more tests that same day, and both came back negative.

Even after those two negative results, I wasn't reassured at all. I desperately searched for stories from people who had experienced the same thing. The next day, I went for a blood pregnancy test to be absolutely sure. Later that day, I got the results, and they were negative.

A few days later, I had another blood test just to be completely certain, and that one was negative as well.

I think it's really difficult to feel reassured when the brand says that false positives are extremely rare, when in reality they don't seem to be as rare as they claim.

Even today, after that incredibly stressful experience, I still struggle with anxiety. But knowing that I'm not the only person who has gone through this has helped me a lot.
