Off center hammer saw vs vert

It seems that hammer saws often have to wait for a side pin to strike when they are against verts to prevent destroying their weapon. How about if the hammer saw was off center?

Skate leather repair

My beautiful Riedell 195 boots are showing their age. Is there a way to repair this type of cracking on the internal leather? Also any tips on ways to clean and protect these would also be appreciated!
