No, OpenAI is not doomed.

Some people really see this graph and think the company is stupid. Do they not realise the smartest people on earth are working on these technologies?

Revenue grew 3.5x in a single year, that's crazy for any company.

Now, research and development is mostly a "one" time cost per model, once the data centers are build they are built, once the AI models are trained they are trained, and so on... not to be confused with cost of revenue which takes in consideration electricity and infrastructure.

Talking about cost of Revenue, this will most likely fall by many orders of magnitude once AI plateau. Neither OpenAI or anthropic or Google are really trying to make the most optimised model. They want the most powerful one. Google clearly proved with some clever tricks AI could run on a mobile phones! The models will cost then much less later on.

So yeah, do not worry about the People saying token and subscriptions will cost 20x more, it's simply not true. If anything we'll get the same/a little less usage once optimisation is here and they actually seek Revenue.

Sales and marketing is a no Brainer for these companies, it's also good to see that OpenAI still rivals and have a place with the concurents. Let's not forget in 2025 or 2024 it fell off very hard.

Honestly, I think that 2026 will be much more promising for OpenAI now that they captured a big part of the market with the glorious launch of 5.5 and codex, plus they cut the money sink from its root: Sora.

And more importantly, the company is gobbling up hundred of startups, these probably get included in the costs.

I'm not ai btw nor a paid propaganda actor I just wanted to share my opinion because all of these people saying openAI particularly is doomed are just clout chasers

Need honest opinions

Does skills and these fancy plugins i keep seeing people recommend and these gurus too (even if i rarely take them seriously) are any good?

Will they genuinely help write cleaner code and perhaps consume a bit less tokens?
Or are does it barely make any change, i'm not working on repetitive stuff or these edge cases to work on other apps (basically not making it learn skills of controlling for example editing)

Lmk from you're experience because i feel like it will only distil the model thinking capability and limit it.

The username goldrush is here!!!

I have been trying every single possibility for many hours, i ended up getting 1 nice 4 letter one with a real meaning and a real english word.
it was a hell of a drive tho, i might switch usernames if i find a better one, my parents are upset they still don't have the feature lol.

But this is absurd, almost everything is reserved or taken.

Disabled approve for me, i am aghast

I saw claims saying "approve for me" uses mostly 5.4, and i couldn't agree less.
I felt like codex was just drunk most of the time, everything was so on the edge of not working i was annoyed but no better option.
Now that i set the ask for aproval, it's been a miracle! Everything working amazigly, deep summeries and not surface level stuff, working actually for long (before even the most complex tasks would only take 15 minutes, now it easily go past the 30+ mark.
And the most important, LIMITS! last 2 weeks been horrible and my limit was vanishing so fast every prompt was around 15%, now it barely scratch that.

GLM 5.2 is unbelievably dumb

Yeah... you heard it right. It's just a crazy model, i used it on open router and every single time it crash midway, even on the API it crashes. The thinking is definitely rigged to refactor every single thing, it costed as much as a claude opus request to fix a grid, which took codex some seconds to do. The cherry on top was it crashing and not giving me any useful info after all, i dont know if its because im using Zed with it but i couldn't get it to do anything right. And i don't look forward to use it. It's literally any opensource bad model but with probably hidden instructions to act dumb and forget every 5 seconds to go and read the entire code again and thinking about the rewrite the code it was thinking of writing (basically every time it writes the code in its "thinking memory".
This is purely stupid, if it didn't cost as much as a frontier model after all the glazing it does i would not be complaining here. Especially with all the glazing, these models are simply not made for coding. They don't have the background frontier models have with millions of conversations!

So basically, if anyone ever tell you opensource models will come close to frontier closed one, just shrug them off because they are unmatched, even with as much distilation and glazing as possible they simply won't reach this level.
