Do NOT build your business around WhatsApp. It can destroy your operation overnight.

I trusted WhatsApp with a major part of my business for years.
Thousands of customers around the world used WhatsApp to reach me. I also spent hundreds of thousands of dollars advertising through Meta, specifically generating leads that were sent to WhatsApp.
And after all of that?
WhatsApp can simply wake up one day and say:
“Permanently banned.”
No real explanation.
No human being to speak to.
No meaningful customer service.
No phone number.
No account manager who can actually fix anything.
Nothing.
This has happened to me multiple times.
Twice, my account was shut down and then restored about a week later. I was told it was basically an automated/AI error.
Think about how insane that is.
A business can lose access to thousands of customers because an algorithm makes a mistake, and WhatsApp apparently considers that acceptable.
This last time has been even worse. Permanently banned again, and there is basically nobody at WhatsApp who will actually speak to me and explain what I supposedly did.
I don’t send spam.
I don’t send mass broadcasts.
I don’t buy lists.
I was literally responding to people who requested information from me through my own Meta ads.
My account quality/rating was high. My customers weren’t the problem.
One Meta representative even suggested something absolutely ridiculous may have triggered it: I had poor internet service while responding to messages, so I answered around 15–20 customers. When the connection came back, the messages went through together and apparently the system may have interpreted that as spam.
Seriously?
You’re a messaging company.
Your system can’t tell the difference between messages being delivered after an internet connection returns and someone running a spam operation?
And then you permanently shut down someone’s business account because of it?
The part that makes me the angriest is the advertising.
Meta happily took hundreds of thousands of dollars from me to acquire leads and send those people to WhatsApp. Then WhatsApp shut down the exact communication channel Meta was charging me money to build.
So now many of those leads and customers can’t reach me through the platform I paid Meta to send them to.
Call it whatever corporate language you want.
From the business owner’s side, it feels like Meta took my money and then pulled the plug on what I paid for.
And there’s nobody accountable.
That is why I would tell every business owner:
DO NOT PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN WHATSAPP.
Own your email list.
Own your customer database.
Collect phone numbers.
Have another SMS provider.
Have another way for customers to contact you.
Because WhatsApp does not care how many years you’ve been using them, how much money you’ve spent with Meta, how many legitimate customers you have, or how badly a shutdown could damage your business.
An algorithm can apparently decide you’re done.
And when it happens, good luck finding an actual human being at WhatsApp who gives a shit.
WhatsApp is an incredibly unreliable platform to build a serious business around.
I learned that the hard way.
Use it as a tool. Never trust it as your business infrastructure.

Meta feel free to dm me if you want to fix my issues till then im posting this all over internet.

WHATS WRONG WITH WHATSAPP? KEEPS B^NNING ME. HELP😭😭😭

this is the fourth day. and the fourth time this has happened. it gets b^nned, restored and then b^nned again???? i sent one text to my sister after it was restored and got a b^n again. yesterday i didn’t even touch my phone. my mom tried calling me and it never went through. opened the app and found out it was b^nned again.
- it’s the official app from the app store.
- no i did not add people to any group chats.
- didn’t even make any group chats.
- spam texts.
- the only device i link to my phone is my laptop (it’s been linked since last year)
- i’ve done NOTHING to violate any rules. i just don’t get it.
after my last number was b^nned, i actually lost that number and had to register a new one. i started over. no previous chats. even lost my freaking stickers 😔. this is a new number i’ve registered that’s been b^nned the third time today. i’ve tried emailing them but as you know, their stupid AI is answering them with no actual solution and refuses to connect to a human. what am i supposed to do 😭😭i’m a student and can’t afford wait around 6-8 hours every day for restoration. someone help😔😔😔

Has anyone successfully reached a human at WhatsApp Support after an account restriction?

Has anyone successfully reached a human at WhatsApp Support after an account restriction?

I'm trying to understand what options are available when WhatsApp's regular support channels only provide automated/AI responses.

In cases involving account restrictions, the in-app review process may not provide an opportunity to explain the situation, while contacting support can result in automated responses without access to a human representative.

I'm NOT asking anyone here to review, restore, or take any action on a specific WhatsApp account.

I'm only looking for information from people who have dealt with this process:

Has anyone successfully reached a real human representative at WhatsApp/Meta?

Has anyone sent a formal physical letter to WhatsApp LLC or Meta in the United States and received a response?

If so, which department/address or process did you use?

I'm particularly interested in experiences with formal correspondence or escalation outside the automated support system.

Thanks for any information or personal experiences.

Whatsapp backup

My WhatsApp chats have not been backed up for about 2 years due to full storage. As I will be switching phones soon, I'm planning on buying extra storage to backup the chats. My question is whether the chats will only be backed up from the day I buy storage or will the previous chats be backed up as well?

reddit.com

Why the discrepancy?

Pic 1: actual storage taken up by my whole Whatsapp backup (local copy)

Pic 2: same backup on Google drive taking up way less storage.

So as title, why this discrepancy? Am I missing something?

TIA

I can't login to WhatsApp

I used to be able to use WhatsApp without a problem. Now, to login, I have to perform one of two tasks, neither of which I can do.

One is to use my phone to scan an image, then do something with the WhatsApp app. Sadly, my phone is too crap to take pictures.

The other is to open the WhatsApp app and enter a code. I don't have this app, and I'm not sure using it is possible on my phone.

So I need some way to login. I put “login” into the search box here and read dozens of threads, but that didn't help. Perhaps someone will tell me to get a decent phone, but I'd rather not.

WhatsApp AI moderation system has some serious issues…

Last month I got banned seven times within ten days. Basically, I noticed that if I forward a message to more than four people at once, I’ll get auto‑banned about a second later. I also tested sending the same message eight separate times in one day, and that triggered an auto‑ban too

Anyone tried making a heatmap of their WhatsApp group activity?

I’ve got a bunch of active group chats and want to visualize how much each group talks per day, like a GitHub-style calendar heatmap.

I know you can export chats as .txt and parse them with Python, but doing that manually for every group feels like a pain, especially if I want it to stay up to date.

Anyone found a good workflow for this? Looking for:
1.Scripts/tools you use to parse exported chats
2. Any way to keep the data updated without re-exporting constantly
3. Existing dashboards/visualizers worth checking out

Just trying to understand my own chat habits, not after anything I can’t already see in the groups. Thanks!

Help me get chat history from old phone!

Hi.
first of all please don't delete the post. It might seem that I go against rule 7 of this subreddit, but I haven't deleted anything, I just want to log in to whatsapp.

I've got a new phone today and I made a huge mistake.
I forgot to create chat backup and upload it on cloud on my old phone, before putting my sim in my new phone.
Now I put the sim card back in my old phone to create the chat backup, but for some reason I can't log in to whatsapp anymore. No matter how many times I try I'm not getting sms or call from whatsapp to verify my number.
I haven't changed anything to my old phone.

What will happen if I reinstall the app? will it delete all my chat history as well?

If anyone has any fix for this, I will appreciate it a lot!

WhatsApp Hacked- Number Inactive and Cannot Recover Account

WhatsApp account suddenly signed out. Linked number is no longer active and the account was set to be updated to a new number. Unfortunately, the account was hacked before this, and cannot be signed back in because the registered number cannot receive calls or texts for verification.

The account is clearly hacked because a random person now has control of it and is messaging people. I tried messaging them myself from my WhatsApp but I only received one check and and my call was left ringing. The WhatsApp support is not very helpful bc it's just an AI bot with generic advice.

Really appreciate the help :)
