Wikipedia currently has the 2023 data for comparison. The tech rally is making impacts all across the world, with South Korea leading the growth in individual wealth.

The ranking for median wealth in Canada has risen to #7. Real estate makes up ~40% of household wealth in Canada, so despite lower home prices and stagnant GDP growth, Canadians are benefiting from a strong stock market.

The massive wealth disparity in the US is evident, as its ranking drops from #2 to #28 when switching from average to median.

Fushun: 4th tier city in China’s rust belt

Located in the Liaoning province, Fushun was historically vital as a heavy industrial powerhouse. It became the coal capital of East Asia during Japanese occupation.

In recent decades, China’s northeast provinces have faced economic stagnation and demographic collapse, as their state-owned heavy industries have declined. There are some parallels between their situation and the rust belt states in the US.

The Ring of Life is a 515-foot landmark built in 2012 as a tourist attraction and observation deck.

I hold TFSA + RRSP in WS and FHSA in Questrade.

I work as a software developer and began investing 5 years ago. I’ve contributed a total of ~$80k, funded entirely through salaries (including from coops). FHSA was opened in 2023.

Most of my gains have been made in 2026 with semiconductor and data center stocks. I plan to shift some of these gains into lower-risk investments.
