Just stopped methimazole after almost 6 yrs

Hello- this is a question about remission.
54 yo female.
Dx with GD in 11/2020 -was on 5mg methamazole 2x per day to start off then decreasing to 5mg 3x per week in 2024. I was transferred to the NP at the office due to me being stable. I discussed at almost every visit my wish to completely go off of the meds and she kept saying next time…. Next time never happened. I feel the office is too overwhelmed with diabetes patients. I spoke to my primary care physician past two years and he finally said he would take over managing my medication. For two months I dropped down to 5 mg 2x a week. I re checked blood work and everything is still euthyroid. He told me to discontinue and repeat blood work in 1 month and 4 months.
Has any one quit cold like this and if so, has remission lasted? What should I look for etc? I do take propranolol occasionally for heart palpitations due to anxiety/menopause symptoms which were the same symptoms I had when I was dx with GD 6 yrs ago but now blood work is consistent with menopause.
