how do I cope this crown molding?

I know this is a hideous cope job…. I just did a rough one to try and figure out the right way. Clearly I am way off.

It is where the white crown molding from the rest of the house meets the new kitchen cabinet molding. They are slightly different size. The dark brown molding is about 1/4 down from the ceiling. I cannot figure out how to mark the white crown to try and cope it properly to overlay the brown.

Any tips or tricks appreciate.
