Hello! I’ll try to get straight to it.

As I get older and have more of my own values independent of my family, I have grown further away from organized religion. I still and I suspect always will believe in god, but I’m lately suspicious of religion itself. Islam has a lot of oppressive rules/beliefs and the whole belief of suffering in the dunya so you don’t burn in hell is a horrific way to live. The thing is, I do still believe in god, and I think I still believe in the prophets, maybe??? Well, more like I believe the prophets might’ve been saying the truth but also possible they weren’t lol. I also see more and more how religion was made for people to feel secure about life and the afterlife, especially during a time where we knew so little about the world and universe.

Is this how it started for you guys? How did you combat the fear of - what if this is all real and I’ll burn in hell if I don’t oblige?
