My son (10y) attended a beginner (quad) roller hockey tournament on Sunday and has now earned the name of "Fish" due to 3 separate instances of getting stuck, thankfully it went to 2 sticks each time or it would have been open season on the goal.
He successfully saved the goals but then proceeded to get stuck after falling flat on his face with the stick going across his stomach pinning the 2 arms down, the chest armour and elbow pads were restricting the ability to slip the gloves off.
He tried to roll but all he could do was lift his head and legs and looked like a fish flapping on dry land as the stick going across the body prevented the roll. Unfortunately my phone was out of battery so I didn't get a video or pic as it was so funny and everyone was laughing (including my son when he came off at the end).
Are there any other goalies that can relate to his problems? Also please give me practical advice on how he can get up.
He hasn't had this issue much before yesterday (played 6 under 13 tournaments since Sept) and it's not happening in training either so while it's hilarious to watch we want him to learn how to get back up.
