Cancelling holiday but still expected to pay

So the title is pretty explanatory. I’m trying to cancel the holiday I had planned with my ex. Reason for the cancellation is because we broke up, with no intention of getting back together.

Now here comes the tricky bit which is making it more difficult.

I’ve only paid a partial deposit for the holiday, about £40. The total cost of the booking is close to £800, and I’m expected to pay around £500 at the end of the month for my next installment. We only booked in about a week ago, and when attempting to cancel on the website (OnTheBeach), I’m prompted to pay an additional £600 just to cancel the holiday, which is completely ridiculous. For that expense, I’d rather go on the holiday on my own.

I’m now wondering if any further action can be taken if I refuse to pay. Do they have any legal standing to pursue repayment if I refuse to pay? Should also note that payment was not made by my account, and was made via a third party company.
