I wanted to share something I’ve been working on for our campus community.
Over the last few months these WhatsApp groups have been incredibly helpful. It is great for staying connected, but as these groups have grown, I noticed a few things getting a bit tricky.
Sometimes, a great listing gets buried under 50 other messages before you even see it. Or you end up messaging someone about a mattress, only to find out it was sold three days ago. And let's be honest, scrolling back through weeks of photos trying to find that one cooler you saw can be pretty tiring!
I realized we needed a way to keep the community feel of this group, but with a bit more organization. So, I spent some time building IITK Buy & Sell — a dedicated platform just for our campus.
The idea is simple:
Easier browsing: Everything is neatly categorized (Cycles, Electronics, Furniture, etc.), so you can actually search and filter for exactly what you need.
Clear availability: No more guessing if an item is still available. Items are clearly marked and automatically disappear a couple of days after being sold.
Cleaner experience: It saves your phone storage from all the media downloads, but when you want to buy something, it still links directly to the seller's WhatsApp so you can chat easily.
I built this to make life just a little bit easier for all of us, especially during moving out/moving in seasons. I’d love for you guys to try it out for your next listing and let me know what you think!
