I use to work at safeway in Leavenworth Washington for 3 yrs. back in march of 2024 i shaved my head and eyebrows as a challenge and i wore a hat to work to cover it up for months. In mid june of that year i met this girl named Justine who did drive up and go, i worked in produce. For the first few weeks of her working at safeway i noticed when she came over to my department she would acknowledge my presence but never asked me where certain produce was or ask about anything.Idk if the hat maybe made me look unapproachable but if she had question she would always go to one of my other fellow produce clerks and ask them. Then one day after about 2 weeks, i finally decided my hair was back to where i felt comfortable enough to go to work without a hat. Justine came over with her dug cart doing her online orders in my produce department, and i could see her out of the corner of my eye looking at me from across the sales floor when i was stalking some produce and she was just standing there looking at me, not doing anything. She came over grabbed some produce behind me and said u look different without a hat and kind of walked away with a smirk, then that’s when i noticed she started giving me more attention as the weeks and months went on. She would always come early before she clocked in for work and go to our meat department which was the head end cap of our produce department and walk pass me say good morning which i know is pretty friendly coworker behavior, but then she would turn around and smirk at me, idk if she thought i was looking at her or trying to get me to notice her, but it seemed to be more attention from her everyday. I started to kind of like the attention and acted like i didn’t care when she was around, kind of ignore her not make eye contact with her, and just watching her out of my peripheral vision. i would just always catch her looking at me waiting for me to make eye contact back, catching her looking at me from her dug department, if she saw me walk past her department she would make herself known to me, or time when she crossed paths with me just at random locations in the store. Then one day in the break room i saw her sitting at a table about 3 tables across from me. She left the break room to go do something came up and slapped her hand on the table i was sitting at and kept it there till i looked at her and she said did i scare u? I was like yea a little bit, and had a big smirk on her face went back to her table sat down still smirking. She would just glance at me a lot see who i talked too, especially other females. I was really close with my one coworker in produce name sam. we hd a brotherly sisterly relationship, play punch each other, joke with each other things of that nature, sometimes she would jump on my back and i would give her piggyback rides. Justine when she came over would notice and seemed jealous of it, pay a lot of attention to it, quickly turn around to see if i noticed her or whatever she thought blah blah blah. anyways she was helping us onetime in produce and sam and i were working together doing our thing, and she kept looking at us. I had to go to the cooler to go grab something and justine and sam were talking, and later that day sam told me justine thought i liked her, her being justine.
Turns out she had a boyfriend with kids Idk.
There’s a lot more i could get into but if anyone can clarify or tell me what this all adds up to if anything, i honestly really don’t care at this point, i just want the what if” thought out of my head. I mean when i found out she had a boyfriend that’s when i drew the line.
