Hi,
I bought my 2005 R53 a few months ago. A ratteling sound has starting to come when motor is idle, and disappears when clutch pedal is pressed down. My best guess is that this is a bad throw-out bearing, but any other ideas please shoot.
Now, the previous owner, who only had the car a few months, bought the car cheap since the clutch was bad. So the replaced the clutch and sold the car. So, if thats true I should have a brand new cluch. But shouldn’t also the throw-out bearing also be changed when you do a job like that? Like its part of the clutch kit? Could he somehow fixed the clutch temporarily just to be able to sell it forward?
I dont know how bad the clutch was before, and It seems to be working normally except for the rattle.
What would you do? Is there a high risk for further damage to ignore the rattle? Is it a big job to change the throw-out bearing if you don’t change the clutch and flywheel?
Thanks!
