Hey all — I’m in the middle of fixing up an older (early 1990s) RV with the goal of selling it, and I’m trying to figure out what’s actually worth doing vs what’s just extra work with no real return.

I’m not doing a full high-end remodel, just more like a clean, updated refresh. I’d love input from people who’ve bought/sold RVs or done similar projects.

Here’s where I’m stuck:

Exterior:

  • I started removing the old decals and… kinda regret it
  • Some areas have smudging/ghosting from sanding and adhesive removal
  • I was originally planning to paint a clean black lower section or just a clean stripe to cover the old decals, but now I’m wondering: Is it worth painting for resale, or should I just clean it up as best as possible and leave it?

Interior walls:

  • There’s some dated wallpaper
  • Trying to decide between:
    • painting everything a neutral color
    • or using peel-and-stick wallpaper in some areas 👉 What tends to appeal more to buyers?

Furniture:

  • Cushions are older but usable 👉 Worth putting covers on them to modernize, or leave as-is?

Ceiling:

  • Front half has original ceiling that actually looks fine
  • Other areas have been repaired and now have wood/patch sections 👉 Should I:
    • finish the whole ceiling so it’s consistent
    • or leave the good original areas and just clean up transitions?

Big picture question:
If you were buying an RV like this, what would matter most to you?

  • Clean + consistent look?
  • Updated finishes?
  • Fresh paint outside?
  • Or just “feels well-maintained” overall?

I’m trying to get the biggest bang for my time/money, not overbuild it.

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from folks who’ve sold or bought recently. Thank you!
