Last night I arrived very tired to the central station and spontaneously decided to take a taxi to the hotel which was around 9 minutes away. Since I have been to Ljubljana many times (and taken taxis here) I thought I had a feeling for the prices and was shocked when he charged me 24 Euros - given that you can go to the airport for around 30!
After reading online I now understand that this form of predatory pricing (a) is somehow legal and (b) one should never get into a taxi off the street and (c) should always ask about the rate.
I think it is so sad that being overcharged by a taxi driver must be how many people are welcomed to Ljubljana, since it is such a beautiful town and except for this driver I have met nothing but wonderful people during my many stays here.
Ps. I know this post already exists many times but after my experience today I feel passionately about pushing this on the algorithm for other people to see it and avoid the same mistake.
