2nd shift outside of “training”… being fed to the wolves for Mother’s Day weekend.

I just recently got hired at a pretty well known seafood spot. They told me that I would get sufficient training and be able to learn the menu. Boy, was I wrong.
My “training” was all harassment and renewing my food handlers. The training was a total of 4-5 hours (split between two days) of just chasing around my trainer to see how things work. Most of it was listening to everyone talk about drama and how horrible the store is. I barely learned anything. I was also told I’d get 3-4 shifts a week, starting off. I ended up receiving 2 shifts a week.

Yesterday (Friday) was my first shift serving and not “training”. I thought it went okay until I realized 75% of the store is new and doesn’t know what they’re doing either. I had a 5 table section and the host is new. So she didn’t sit my tables any time apart. I got slammed all at once. One table ended up getting 2 extra sides?! The guest was upset thinking I put her order in wrong. I double checked and put it In correctly. I go to the food runner (also new) and ask what I need to do. Do I need to take the food away or leave it? Do I need to find out which table is missing it now? I got horrible attitude from a veteran server saying “you need to figure out what you need before I can help you. I can’t help you if you don’t know what you need”…. And the food runner looking lost but also very positive she brought it to the right table, telling me I was wrong. I told her to pull back up the ticket and what do you know, I was right.

While dealing with this and being swamped with all the tables sitting at once, I had another couple come in and the lady got her food because it is something, I, as the server have to make and bring out first. I’m checking his ticket and it still shows it’s being cooked. I told him twice it would be out shortly. As I’m checking out one of my other tables that had 4 gift cards (takes forever for manual entry) the new host comes up to tell me that I have a guest that hasn’t been greeted in an hour and a half. I was like what? My section is full and everyone is helped. I go over and the guest yells at me demanding his check and that he’s in a hurry, very rudely, because he didn’t get his food.
I go to the back and my ticket was bumped and never brought out. In the span of 5 minutes of me cashing someone out. It was on the screen and then gone. I assume the food runner brought it to the wrong table. I had to tell a manager and the only one available was the GM and she was directly and rudely saying to me “it is all your fault, don’t let it happen again” wouldn’t even let me get a word in.

This was my first shift ever after practically no training. I’m supposed to work Mother’s Day weekend and I’m just wanting to quit before I even go in. They have my working closing today (Saturday) and a double on Mother’s Day. I don’t think I can do it.
