Something I really appreciated in the new movie are the interactions between Johnny and Sonya. Rather than just out of the gate having a budding romance or the trope of arrogant character charms no nonsense character, we got to see her hype him up a bit and have more of a team dynamic. I’m sure this will advance in the next movie but for now they were able to work together without quite being an item. I love the Cage/Blade relationship and it’s nice to see it play a little slower and less automatic.

One of my favorite scenes from the movie is when Johnny is fighting Baraka and looks over to his team. I think Jax is crossing himself and Sonya gives Johnny a little fight pose like “square up, you got this.”
