Help me hypermile a 1998 2500HD Chevy pickup
Hello hypermilers! I am going to be attending trade school later this year, I will be going to a college in another city, about 100km away. After doing some quick math I've decided that driving is the cheapest option, even in my old pickup. I won't buy another vehicle, because after buying the car, putting winter tires on it, and making reliable enough to trust to drive 200 km everyday for three months, I'd spend more than it would be worth. So I'm driving my old pick-up. Now, I will be spending roughly $4000 on gas, so I'm hoping to increase my fuel economy. I will be employing driving techniques of course, but I'm wondering if any aero mods would be worth it. I was thinking about installing a tonneau cover, some side skirts over the rear wheels, an underbelly, and damming the front grill. I was wondering if any of you have done these mods, and how they affect fuel economy. I know it won't be much, but my truck gets 23L/100km on average, and every bit of improvment will help. Please give your opinion:)
