Bathers treated like trash
So I don’t know what I’m going to do I’ve been working with PetSmart for about a year now. When I went through the interview process they asked me what my desired pay was and I said $15.50 as that’s what’s on the website when you apply instead I got paid $13.00. Also given I had previous experience with cats and dogs from a previous bather/ dog daycare worker for 4 years with amazing references. Then came my first day and I had absolutely no clue what to do because the salon lead didn’t train me in prism or calls or even the shampoos and what’s included in different specials. I was always fully booked and even if I had a dog on the table or was in the middle of a bath a groomer would come and tell me to answer the phone. I got bit by a dog that I was drying (the dog wasn’t showing any stress or anything abnormal) and was bleeding for a good 2 hours and I was told to finish the dog because It wasn’t bad enough (my arm had holes and was profusely gushing). I also had hundreds of dollars missing out of every paycheck for PTO I’m part time and work everyday besides maybe every other Monday from 7-4 and I was lucky if I got to take lunch. The salon lead also knew when I got behind and would add another walk in to my schedule or tell me to bathe their dog. I also went out of town for a few days (I requested those days off and got it) but the entire time I was gone I kept getting called to come in and to take shifts and was told that I was fired because of it. Everything was fine after that for a few months. I was scheduled one day and when I stepped on the salon to open (per usual) I got told to meet in the office and got yelled at for every single little thing I did and was told that I was incompetent, emotional and wasn’t a good use of the space in the salon. I didn’t do anything wrong that I was aware of because I’m a perfectionist and take my time but get dogs done on time nor did I ever show anything that I was emotional.
