On Ao3. If you don't tag for a specific trope or relationship,
YOU DON'T NEED TO ADD AN EXTRA DNI TAG.
I've recently gotten really into TMNT (something something reclaiming the boyhood I missed out on) and I wanted to read fic for it. Cool! Not even really looking for shipping fics.
But you know what I find anyway?
"DNI TCEST"
Everywhere.
I'm not even reaaaally into it. More neutral than anything, B Team seems like it could be cool/hot but otherwise I wouldn't think about it HALF as much if every single gen fic wasn't tagged with a DNI that honestly, probably doesn't even actually work like they think it does! Someone who likes incest is not going to mention it on a fanfic that doesn't feature it. You don't get to control who does and doesn't read your fanfic once it's released for the public to read.
It just comes off as insecure and annoying. Be so fr, this is just weird virtue signaling on fanfics that would probably be a really fun read if I wasn't hit in the face with the tag equivalent of "s-s-stay away from me, b-baka!!" every time I click to the next chapter.
Do any other fandoms deal with this weird redundant anti tagging issue? Vent/Rant if you need to.
