Recovery must haves. What did you find helpful?

I'll be having surgery on my left hip in 10 days. Surgeon is not sure what he'll do until he gets in there but MRI says "Complex contrast filling tear at the anterosuperior left hip labrum and subchondral cyst. Surgery noted as "Left Hip Arthroscopic Acetabuloplasty, Femoroplasty, and Labral Repair vs Labral Reconstruction with Fascia Lata Allograft".

I've got my crutches and a cane. 4pk of large soft gel ice packs. All kinds of pillows including a wedge. Shower has built-in bench. I have a nice ergo seat cushion with tailbone and pelvic bone contour for the car. I still need to pick up a sitting foot pedal for ROM exercises. What other items did you find helpful in recovery?

Acute onset, doc says trigger finger and tendonitis

Age 44

Sex AFAB

Height 5'6"

Weight 145#

Race Caucasian

Duration of complaint 7 weeks

Location Right hand/index finger

Any existing relevant medical issues CRPS in left lower limb, hEDS, perimenopause, Hashimotos disease.

Current medications HRT for perimenopause/hashi's, tapentadol, oxycodone, cyclobenzaprine for CRPS/body pains

May 5th my right hand felt funny. It felt like a blood vessel broke(happens every other month) and within hours the pain and swelling grew. I have no memory of an "ouch, that's gonna hurt" moment but within 24hrs my hand swelled up and the pain increased with use. 4 days later I stop by a Urgent Care for an X-ray. It's clear and the PA says to limit use and to reach out if it's not getting better.

3 weeks later it still hurts to use. Swelling barely improved. I see a hand specialist. He spends maybe 3 minutes looking at my hand and declares its trigger finger and tendonitis. He gives me a steroid shot in my hand and sends me on my way. It got worse before it got better. My palm pain and swelling improved after a few days but my finger still hurts with use. When I looked up trigger finger it didn't quite match my onset symptoms. Also, tendonitis doesn't happen over night. 7 weeks after onset I'm still having pain in my index finger and palm pain is retuning slowly.

Does trigger finger and tendonitis sound like the right DX? Should I get a second opinion or wait it out a few more weeks? Pic in comments is 3 days after onset. Right hand vs left.

Anything I need to be aware of with colonoscopy and CRPS?

I'll be having my first ever colonoscopy next week. I have CRPS from my left hip down to my toe tips. My CRPS started in Oct 2023. It's "stable" with nerve blocks, ketamine nasal spray and 24/7 opioids.

I have had internal pelvic since the CRPS started. But I was also dealing with a decade of SI joint issues that flared from the CRPS. I had SI joint fusion surgery about 10 months after onset of CRPS. The SI fusion helped lower the pain considerably in my affected limb but the pelvic pain has stayed.

So, colonoscopy time. I had requested ketamine to be added to my sedation for my SI surgery. Would it be needed if there's no real body trauma during a colonoscopy? Anything else I need to be aware of?

Those of you who are here because of workplace accidents know just how big of a win this is. I was DX with CRPS by my pain doctor who I was seeing on my private insurance because I hurt for other reasons. My CRPS was triggered by a foot surgery that WC approved and paid for. The DX was backed up by a podiatrist and neurologist within 3 months of onset. Both those doctors were seen under my workman's comp claim yet WC never added the condition.

It's been 2.5 years of back and forth with lawyers, a claim manager and dozens of doctor's appt. Finally, someone at WC read through 100+ pages of my chart from my pain doctor and confirmed I met the Budapest Criteria. This is such a huge weight off my shoulders. I was so terrified that it would never be added. It's such a life altering condition that it needs to be documented.
