Today I saw something interesting in crude oil.

From the morning session, price kept climbing steadily almost +5% up. Everything looked bullish, momentum strong, breakout traders probably jumping in.

But then, around 30 minutes before a major news release about UAE Exit from OPEC and OPEC+, price suddenly started falling. Not after the news before it.

So it makes me wonder:

Was this just profit booking after an extended move?

Or did bigger players already start exiting positions ahead of uncertainty?

Or is it possible that some participants had early expectations or positioning before the news became public?

Because from a retail perspective, it often feels like by the time news reaches us, the move is already done.

Not saying it’s manipulation or insider trading — but the timing does raise questions about how information, positioning, and liquidity really work in markets.

Curious to hear different perspectives from experienced traders here.

What’s your thoughts on this?
