Does this atmosphere feel emotionally believable? (alternative / folk demo)

Hey everyone,

this is an advanced demo of my song In My Grandpa’s Hall.

The arrangement is almost complete: vocals, drums, acoustic guitar, ambient synths and orchestral layers are already there.

Still missing bass + additional guitars.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback about:

• the atmosphere

• the strings/synths

• the emotional tension of the track overall

I wanted it to feel intimate and human rather than overly cinematic.

Here are the lyrics:

In my grandpa's hall I sit alone

The air is thick of memories that I have lost

Curtains are drawn back to let the light reflect

The marble pavement's coldness grounds me in my head

Still I don't know what I came here for

This silence's loudness speaks

It's hard to be ignored

So I'll carry the light to remind who I am

Through the noise and the scars

There's no need to pretend

Yeah I'll carry the light to remind who I am

Through the noise and the scars

There's no need to pretend

In my grandpa's hall I talked to God

I asked him"Dear good Lord, why it has to be this hard?"

He said"Your words won't work, you must forgive your past

And keep the spark alive, it's all that ever lasts"

Hell now I know what I came here for

This silence's loudness sings

It's hard to be ignored

So I'll carry the light to remind who I am

Through the noise and the scars

There's no need to pretend

Yeah I'll carry the light to remind who I am

Through the noise and the scars

There's no need to pretend

Oh I'll hold onto you when the world becomes heavy

When love seems so far and the silence feels steady

I trust to your heart, we won't tear apart

We won't tear apart

We won't tear apart

Because I trust your heart

I trust you heart

Thanks for listening 🙏🏻

È un mio pezzo, The Voice You Didn’t Hear.

I’m currently reworking this song with my band, so I’m trying to understand what actually works and what doesn’t.

This is a full live take (voice + guitar), and I later added some arrangement elements (strings, piano, background vocals).

I’m not sure if the added production enhances the emotion or takes something away from it.

Does it feel honest to you, or does it sound overworked?

Any honest feedback is really appreciated.
