Help! Any chance of saving this little guy?

One of the stems on my cactus has snapped off at the trunk — I’m not sure if it was overwatering or just an accident. It was located on a bookshelf up until a week ago but has now been moved next to a SW facing window. I only water when the soil is fully dry.

The fallen stem looks healthy and green. Has anyone successfully propagated a cactus from a broken stem? Any advice welcome — I’m still learning! Also, any guesses on what type of cactus it is? I can’t seem to find it via google lens
