Day 7 KCH London (slowly working my way through the Simplicity menu)

Day 7 KCH London (slowly working my way through the Simplicity menu)

I missed lunch due to having to go for another blood oxygen test so landed up with a sandwich when I got back which was good and was happy with that

Dinner: Salmon & Potato bake
Steamed salmon served with small potato cubes, in a creamy sauce with peas & edamame beans

Rating: solid 10/10 as this was divine and would highly recommend as best item on the menu thus far

What I will whinge about is the missing custard pots, they have been missing for 2 days now, not happy

Day 6 KCH London (slowly going through patient menu)

Lunch: chicken goujons, wedges & veg
Chicken goujons - nice & moist but a little spicy, not advisable if you have thrush caused by too many antibiotics
Wedges - very tasty
Veg - carrots & broccoli both still raw

Custard pot with added banana

Rating: 4/10
Rating would be higher if tongue didn’t hurt and veg were even just slightly cooked

Dinner: all day breakfast
Couldn’t fault anything other than hash brown was a little soggy and felt like half the rasher of bacon was missing

Custard pot: MIA as never arrived

Rating: 4/10 due to soggy hash brown & missing custard

Day 4 KCH London UK

Ok first day was back in Resus so had sandwiches & water whilst in there, days 2-3 spent in step down assessment ward and just had baked potatoes or sandwiches (this time my choice). Finally got admitted to correct ward and had lunch,

roast pork with roast potatoes, peas, braised red cabbage & missing carrots. Rate 6/10 only because carrots were missing & peas rock hard.

Dinner tonight has to be baked potato with tuna mayo & salad as it’s so filling & satisfying - definite 10/10 (keep forgetting to take photo)

And what is with hospital toast? It just hits the right spots

King’s - London

Just had a recent admission at King’s in London. First 2 days was only offered sandwiches (whilst in Resus then in Acute Assessment ward) so didn’t take photos of those although highly recommend the chicken mayo sandwich. Got moved to a ward for 24 hours until stable enough for discharge and was offered just this pasta bolognaise dish for lunch; it wasn’t too bad as I ate the lot (yes was starving by this point) but no dessert or anything else offered. I never got to try the evening meal as I was discharged. Most of my meals were sandwiches or toast bar this pasta dish. If it wasn’t for one of my visitors, I would have been ravenous as they bought me a stash of croissants for breakfast on day 2

Rating of
pasta bolognaise dish - 8/10
Chicken mayo sandwich - 10/10
Ham sandwich - 2/10 (dry cardboard would be better)
Toast - 8/10 (can’t go wrong with toast)
