Replace rear brakes recommendation

Hi there , after giving a good thought about it , and thanks to some of the people here , I decided to not go for the Powestop kit brakes with red calipers .

They were expensive , and I read enough to see that those , can go wrong very quickly . I won't take the gamble just because I love those red calipers .
So I am gonna just replace the rear disc rotors and pads , since my Jetta is a 2012 2.5 SEL.
I would like to ask opinion to you all , about what would be a good option . I will buy them in FCP probably . I don't need the most expensive ones , but I won't buy the cheapest option either , so maybe someone can share which one they installed , and if they are satisfied with it .
Doing this option is actually way cheaper than those POWESTOP brake kit that I was about to buy... and like a fellow told me here ... "if you love the look of a red caliper , PAINT IT YOURSELF" ( at the beginning I thought it was joking but NOPE ... there are plenty of videos of how to paint your calipers in red ) 😊.
I hope several people here can share their experience with the brake brand they use .
Thank you soooo much !!!

Where are the airbags

Hi there ,
I have a 2012 2.5 SEL Jetta .

I would like to clarify exactly what airbags have and where are they .

I know it has front ones for driver and passenger , I can see also side ones on both sides , between the front and rear doors … but after this gets confuse to me.

I read online there are airbags on the roof , curtain roof , something like that ??

Also , I see that the seats has a label that says airbag …are the airbags inside of the seat? Are for front passenger or to protect the backseats passengers? What part of the body are they intended to protect ?

Any other airbags in this model?

Where all trims came with the same airbags ? Or some trims had more ?

I hope someone can clarify this to me. I know is a lot of questions , but better to put all in a post and get straight answers.

Thank you so much !!’

What tools do I need exactly

Hi community,

I’m Learning a lot here , the level of expertise in this community is just awesome , and is very open minded . So because of that , and because I see what other people are doing themselves , I just took the decision of doing my fist DIY repair .. and man I’m scare I’m gonna damage the car …

Mind you , my car technical skills are very basic , I know how to change oil or change headlights , easy stuff … but this one is more serious .. At Least it is for me !!

I’m gonna replace my ignition coils , the spark plugs , the valve cover gasket and the air filter .

Since I saw that all can be done in one shot , I want to try . My Jetta 2.5 SEL is from 2012 . As far as I know , none of this is being replaced before .

I watched TONS of videos , from many YouTubers , to how to accomplish this . One in particular I really like how he explains it , and made me believe this can be done by myself . His videos Are really good .

I have the material Down BUT for the tools ….for the love of God I’m being lost in here .

I try to see what tools this Guys use , but I don’t know the names … one uses a electrical green tool that he seems works for all .. another one uses a manual ratchet … but I don’t know what size do I need … I saw then using like some sort of tong to open some thing he called “clamp” … and so and so … another YouTuber was saying the exact pressure he has to apply when he put the spark plugs back … oh lord .. how I’m gonna know this ??

I saw one using a manual ratchet , but it was extra long for the sparks …

Long story short… can someone , base on what I want to accomplish , tell me the list of tools that I need to buy , to get this done ??

I know a lot of this Guys use electrical ones, but they are more expensive , and I don’t know if I really would use it frequently , but if on one of Those 50 pieces Kits have all that I need , I will open to buy it. .

I hope this post is not a boring one , and someone don’t mind to put the time on giving me this list !!!

I would really … really.. ( seriously ) really appreciate !!!!!

Again, this is for a Jetta 2012 2.5 SEL

Question about calipers

Hi there ,

I am gonna have to change my brakes soon. I considering to get red calipers for my Vw Jetta 2012 . I Have to admit it is a feature that I always notice on other cars, and I like it a lot . However I really don’t know if I can buy this for my 2012 Jetta. I admit that I’m not that knowledgeable about cars. I always see porches or other expensive ones with red calipers , but no in old ones .

If this is perfectly doable , Which brand do you guys recommend? I understand it might be more expensive than regular ones , but perhaps not crazy expensive .

I saw there are covers in the market. I’m not interested in this . If I am gonna buy them , I’ll get the full caliper .

If there is a Brand , that comes with the whole kit for brakes then even better . Since my trim is a 2.5 SEL from 2012 , it has discs front and rear . I will consider as well good quality discs , the ones with holes on it .

So yes, will be great to find full kits with red calipers , brake pads and discs .

I will appreciate some links as well , or reference numbers .

Thank you soooo much !!!!

What’s the right name and reference for This piece ?

Hi there ,

This community is being super helpful . Thank you all.

I noticed my Jetta 2.5 SEL from 2012 have rust in this piece . It Bothers me every time I open the hood . It is a eye sore . I’m sure it’s functionally is perfectly fine , but anyway , I’m gonna replace it .

It is the left one , but I think I will replace the right one as well . I will need also the name of the screws and the washers … maybe it needs a lock washer as well??

I was considering to paint it, but I know I won’t do a good job , and it will be another eye sore .

I add some pictures as reference .

Thank you so much !!!

Somebody knows where to get this

Hi there,

My 2012 Jetta has wires all over right where my yellow circle is .

I noticed in some videos that I was watching , the guy has all the trunk wires so organized into this kind of plastic or rubber cover or whatever it is . Is this a part that you can purchase online or in VW? Or he just made it up himself?

I like how it looks , much better than just taping all the wires, is clean and is functional .

I hope you guys can see what I mean from the pictures . I would appreciate if someone can tell me where to find this or put a link.

Thank you so much !!!
