Is there a way to tell if my pigeon is a male or a female?

So about a month ago this little friend came to me as a rescue... I handfeed it and it is now eating alone, perching etc.

Is there any way to tell if it's male or female now? Or should I wait a little longer? There's a veterinary lab specializing in birds nearby that I could ask for help... but I'm not sure if they treat pigeons
