1 year into Letrozole and I'm struggling.
I was 40 when I was diagnosed last year. ER+ PR+, DCIS+ IDC. I had a lumpectomy and 5 days of radiation, and my doctor started me on Letrozole immediately.
It's been 12 months on medication now and somehow it's harder all of a sudden.
The joint stiffness isn't so bad, but the hot flashes are worse and I'm exhausted, partly because I'm not sleeping well through the night (hot flashes the culprit again). It's also summer here, the weather is hot and going out in this heat fully wipes me out.
The hot flashes were not this bad except when I started on letrozole. Neither was the fatigue. My doctor started me on Menopace every other day 20 days ago because I've had them so bad.
I'm eating clean, I've lost weight, my blood tests show all well. I've come to terms with my diagnosis, treatment and have had support to deal with the fear of recurrence. My annual scans showed all clear. And I feel so challenged at the moment.
Maybe the hot flashes and fatigue are worse in the summer? Maybe I'm plateau-ing with side effects? I cannot understand what's happening. I wake up from 2 hour afternoon naps, still feeling exhausted.
I'm struggling with this. What suggestions do you have for me?
