Power down after ST?

Hi all! We successfully ST’d our 19 week adjusted (born at 34 weeks) LO a little over two weeks ago. She sleeps great at night with two night feeds still preserved (11pm & 3am) because she’s a small gal. Currently wakes at 7am and in bed around 7pm with a 2/2/2/2-2.5 schedule. Sleeps in her own room, no pacifier.

We are so happy and ST has totally changed our lives - she was previously cosleeping and waking every 1-2 hours to eat. However, my concern is that she still cries for anywhere from 5-20 minutes after we put her down for the night, sometimes requiring a pop-in. I’ve read that she might be a “power-down” baby who needs to cry a little to get out extra energy before bed.

If anyone else has a “power-down” baby, specifically after sleep training, has it improved over time? And tips or tricks? I hate hearing her cry when I know she has the skills to fall asleep independently!

Sleep training readiness??

How do you know when your baby is ready for sleep training (besides age)? My LO is 14 weeks adjusted (20 weeks actual) and I’m curious if there’s a point where we’ll “know” she’s ready for sleep training or if we just have to go for it once she’s an appropriate adjusted age.

She has always been a terrible sleeper so we’re really hoping to start Ferber right at 4 months adjusted.

Current schedule is 2/2/2/2/2.5 with a 7:30 wake-up and 7:30-8:00 bedtime and 3.5 hours of daytime sleep. Even with co-sleeping, she’s up every 1-2 hours overnight. I’m desperate to get more sleep, but I don’t want to overwhelm her if she’s not ready at 4 months adjusted!

Upset while falling asleep / preemie Ferber?

My 12 week adjusted (18 weeks actual - born at 34 weeks) baby has always cried for 30 seconds - 10 minutes while being helped to sleep. We’ve tried different soothing techniques, longer and shorter wake windows, different environments, etc but she always does it. At this point I’m thinking it might be her way of getting extra energy out before sleeping.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so did it get better or worse with sleep training? We’re planning to do Ferber at 4 months adjusted but I’m already nervous about the amount of crying involved.

Also would love to hear any success stories of sleep training preemies! She currently only does 2 hours at a time at night and I am exhausted.
