Hello everyone, I applied to University of Hamburg for winter of this year. Two days ago I received a letter of provisional admission, which states:
'Today, we are pleased to inform you that you have been provisionally admitted to our program, subject to formal approval. The official notification of approval, as well as the enrollment request, will be provided to you electronically by the Campus Center via our students’ online portal, STiNE, on 27 May 2026 (see below for further details).'
Yes, I do understand that, either way, I will have to wait until 27 May to be a 100% accepted. However my question is if the line 'subject to formal approval' is more like a mere formality (and I can consider myself in) or if is it another strong filter I have to go through.
I do understand that I can take this as a notice/'heads-up' to be ready for other formal process that I will have to be ready for (in case of being accepted). From the experience of 2 friends that are studying there since last year (different universities and not in Hamburg), receiving the admission on the 27 of this month would still leave me with plenty of time.
If anyone received the same letter or went through the same situation in previous applications and could share their experience, I will highly appreciate that.
It's my first time applying so I am not familiar with this specific situation.
Hoping that everyone has a nice weekend.
