51 Inspired Shooting Plane
Modified design based off "Jayt's Shooting p
Plane" build on Time Tested Tools.
I'm not set up to shoot and probably didnt need this, but boy does it shave long grain like butter.
Things I learned:
- ante up for steel thats already been ground flat. I used 1018 mill finish bar, which easily added a full weekend of work.
- use one wood blank if possible, dont glue up. Mine is made from 3 unique pieces of wood It was the only "affordable" way to get ebony in the size I needed. Note the very small bowties at the glue line.
- follow up to that last point: buy 1/8" chisel
- making paste wax is easy and can be tailored to personal preference
