Cold Weather, Water Launch Pants Recommendations (on a budget, if possible)

Hey all! I live north of Seattle and I started rowing in May and have had lovely weather since then.

We're moving into the fall, which of course means cooler weather. We are getting a new dock, but in the meantime we're doing wet launches in the lake, where we end up getting wet above the knee. I've been wearing shorts, but I think I'll need something warmer for those chilly mornings.

Does anyone have any recommendations for women's pants that can get wet but won't stay really cold? My other issue is that I overheat really easily and I just don't know what will keep me from freezing in the lake and when we first get out there and not make me want to die once we really get rowing. Maybe I'm just looking at yoga pants?

I have spent some money on some team gear so if possible, I'd love something that isn't super expensive, but if you have a recommendation that can't be beat at a higher price, feel free to leave that too.

Colonoscopy Prep: a whole gallon?!

Hey all, I’m sure this will not get answers for me in time but maybe it could help someone else. I’m a 45f with a family history of colon cancer (my mom), precancerous polyps at my first colonoscopy, and I’m on the every three year plan.

For my first colonoscopy, I got Sutab and prep went fine. Not my best day ever but easier than I expected.

Fast forward three years and I was diagnosed with stage 3a kidney disease and the team said no to the Sutab and the regular prep mix. Instead, I got the instructions to do four dulcolax an entire bottle (510mg) of MiraLAX and a full gallon of water. 3/4 of that gallon is 8oz every 15 minutes until I’ve done it 12 times. Then another 4 times at 2am.

I’m halfway through the first part of the prep (6 doses) and I feel so nauseated. It’s so much fluid and so much MiraLAX (almost a double dose per 8oz - 32mg). My stomach sounds incredibly angry and the cleanse has begun.

I was reading through other posts and generally everyone else who gets this prep has half the prep I do. I have no idea why my prep would be double. I’m 160lbs, some IBS but not severe constipation. Pretty sure I’m going to be nice and clean without doing the entire gallon.

I’d call my doc, but of course it’s Sunday so no one is available 🙃

Anyway, just curious if anyone has had this large of a dose!

Birdy Grey Bridesmaid Dresses

Just a heads up for those of you thinking about choosing Birdy Grey for your bridesmaid dresses—it was quite the saga for me.

I had to go through four dresses to find one that would remotely work for a wedding I am in. I went by their sizing and was a XXL to start with and ended up with a L in the end (I'm 5'6", 165lbs, and pretty muscular and sturdy). The XXL Lydia made me look like I had zero shape and the ruching was poorly sewn. Then I tried the Alex in a XL and L. The L fit my body, but the shoulder straps just fell off my shoulders and I do not have a narrow frame. That dress is not built in a way that is easy to tailor. I ended up with the Kira dress in a L and it fit pretty well overall. They do mention this but unless you are a giant, you will need to hem the dress. I have 5" heels and I am still hemming 3" off the bottom.

Each dress was a separate shipment because dress after dress didn't work. I spent close to $500 trying to find a dress. I returned three of the four dresses and had to pay a restocking fee AND a shipping fee for each of them (I couldn't ship them all together per their TOS), which was $15 per dress and $12 per dress respectively.

It was a really disheartening experience. I actually like my body and it just felt like nothing was going to work and now I have to pay almost the cost of one of the dresses to return three dresses. Weigh the options before going with them!
