Newly unemployed and stuck!
Hello all,
I’m new to this so please be kind!
Last week, I lost my job. This job was my career - I’d been in various roles and worked my way up over 10 years following the birth of my son. As I’m sure you can imagine, this has completely rocked my world. It’s not really relevant but for context, I was dismissed due to numerous small things (large workload etc.) and my attendance/sickness.
I have numerous diagnosed conditions including Autism/Adhd and hEDS. More recently, I’ve been diagnosed with a thyroid autoimmune disorder which left me really unwell and taking a period of time off work. Ultimately, they’ve had my legs and I’ve been dismissed because of that. Anyway, that’s all being reviewed by a legal team.
My question is, what benefits am I entitled to? I don’t want to rush back into work, I want to take a bit of time off to actually get better.
I currently get help towards housing through universal credit which due to my income was the basic rate.
I have 1 child who is also neurodivergent and I get DLA for him already.
I’ve no idea what else there is to help. I’ve got an appointment at the job centre coming up in a few days which is sending my anxiety through the roof.
I just need to know what this new life looks like moving forwards.
I’ve completed the calculators online a while back, I’ll do them again but really I just want to know lived experience and what there is for support and help.
I also should be entitled to PIP with my conditions and how they impact me, but that’s just another battle I don’t know I’ve got the energy to face
