PMDD - Allegra + Pepcid AC

This is for whoever posted about having really bad PMDD aka losing your gd mind going into your period / during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.

I just recently learned about using this combination of antihistamines to deal with it - I also learned that Pepcid AC is an antihistamine & the gut has a lot of histamine response in it lol

I do not know the full story on it so don’t ask me I just know it’s a thing

You should definitely Google and see what you can find - it was something that came up on Dr Marie Claire Haver’s podcast which is more about menopause - but she had on Dr. Zachary Ruben, who is an allergist & they were really getting into the weeds about mast cell activation being caused by histamine response- & how mast cell over-activation can impact female hormones.

So by extension, histamines can have some role in female hormones going out of wack & and antihistamines can help bring them back in order in certain very specific situations.

And of course, we don’t know nearly enough about it but women have been out there, trying anything and everything to figure it out for themselves and have found the otc antihistamine can help with PMDD - & the Allegra and the Pepcid AC combination seems to be the most effective if that’s going to help.

& (male) allergists now acknowledge that there is a scientific basis for that. So now we can consider it real lol

But PMDD as a phenomenon is not well understood so it doesn’t seem that PMDD is always caught up in that histamine mask so connection. But it’s definitely something to try.

It blows my mind that female hormones are essential for the survival of the species & medical science just keeps sleeping on them and sleeping on them and sleeping on them.

What have they been working on instead? Making sure men can have boners until the day they die!

🤦🏼‍♀️ 🤦🏼‍♀️ 🤦🏼‍♀️ 🤦🏼‍♀️

Melasma & (Peri)menopause

I am curious, how many people here are women who never had melasma before in their life until they hit perimenopause/menopause.

It’s definitely a thing right?

rant:

My melasma showed up in perimenopause& are its still with me in menopause.

I am so sick of hearing that estrogen has to be involved, but when I told the dermatologists I was fairly certain my estrogen starting to fall & that was the problem, they confirmed that melasma can show up in perimenopause and menopause, but had nothing to say about why that was. But they told me if I went on HRT it would get worse.

So to recap: I was told melasma showing up when a woman’s estrogen is going away & completely gone is a thing, but don’t add estrogen back in because that will make it worse.

ayfkm?!!

I lived completely estrogen deprived for a year, and my melasma got worse. I was having hot flashes and internal heat is a huge trigger for my melasma. When I got on HRT, my melasma got better & I assume that’s because I was no longer having hot flashes.

That was a decade ago and I still don’t really have any answers.

I just went ahead and started taking oral tranexamic acid because I’m too old to be dealing with this bullshit lol.

I swear doctors just don’t have any fucking idea what is really going on when someone has melasma. Like so many things that impact females more than males, they never bothered at the outset to concern themselves with what was really happening.

I’ve essentially just been diagnosed with the pathology of being female.

And - given the bullshit attitude & shitty healthcare we have to put up with - pink female is definitely a part of the problem, but not for the reasons they think.

We deserve better, ladies. We all deserve better.

End rant - thank you for coming to my TED talk lol

How do fur babies & fids help you with your daily challenges?

This is my kitty Gracie napping in the laundry basket I left sitting on the floor a week ago. A few days ago, I threw a cat bed in it because I tripped over it because it was sitting in the middle of the floor. I was just tossing it somewhere to get it out of the way.

& to that Gracie said “hooray! My human never lets me get in the laundry baskets but right now she’s decided to make one of the laundry baskets a special kitty cove for me!”

I share this because too often I think we overestimate how completely together normies have it. I shared this picture on my social media and all my normie friends related. For instance, people people talked about how they had laundry baskets on the floor /their homes were in disorder & how I will now have to leave this laundry basket here for the cat to use as long as the cat wants to use it lol.

I had a normie friend who posted about how they regularly do not make their bed because if their cat is still sleeping on it, they just won’t make it & they will simply tell people who see it that they are not going to disturb the cat so stfu about the unmade bed!

Gracie is incapable of even processing all the judgment I put on myself for not somehow meeting Society’s expectations of us. & she’s nothing but happy when I drop all pretense of adult home cleaning because she always gets something nice out of it. & just finding that space of nonjudgment makes me more motivated to clean up a few things. But also for now it’s fine to leave his basket here for my cat. The normies said so lol.
