Hello everyone,
I have a left Joycon that is half broken and I think the fault is a damaged ribbon cable. It works and charges but doesn't register when I slide it in and the pairing button doesn't work. So basically can only be used when taken off the console for some reason.
I think the damage to the ribbon cable was from being squeezed and since it hadn't been opened before I'm guessing it already happened during assembly but didn't cause issues in the beginning.
I bought a set of aftermarket rails from AliExpress but only realized now after some time the left rail was damaged during the shipping. I opened a case on AliExpress and maybe I get a refund but I'm wondering what my best options are.
Should I try to fix the broken plastic pieces with glue or would this be a bad spot because of the mechanical stress from using the rail?
Would it be possible to salvage only the ribbon cable or would this be attached/glued additionally to being soldered in place?
Or just order another replacement part?
We are using the switch with a second set of Joycons that I bought used before I got into electronic repairs so it's not a life or death situation.
Thanks for any feedback and help in advance.
