I spent 8–12 months learning skills, but I still can’t find a remote freelance job. What am I doing wrong?
For the past 8–12 months, I’ve been focused on studying and improving my skills. Recently, I decided to stop only learning and start looking for remote freelance work.
I’ve spent months searching for opportunities, applying, and trying different platforms, but I still haven’t been able to find any work. It’s starting to make me wonder what I’m doing wrong.
I’m a Electrical and Computer Engineering student interested in areas like AI, app development, cybersecurity, and software development. I’ve been learning consistently, but turning those skills into actual paid freelance work has been much harder than I expected.
For people who successfully got their first remote/freelance job:
- What helped you get started?
- What mistakes do beginners usually make that youtubers haven't talked of ?
- Should I focus more on building projects, networking, or what?
- How long did it take before you got your first client or remote job?
I’d really appreciate honest advice or feedback.
