Need to see what you guys would do… baby just turned 4mo and went for his checkup, which he hadn’t had since 2mo. He was just barely 12lbs. Apparently had been gaining 17 oz per day since the 2mo apt which according to the doctor is within the normal range but on the lower side. His weight was 4th percentile while his height was 8th. At the same time, they said his growth chart looked good but also said most babies hit 12lbs at 3mo not 4. Mind you, my husband and I are 5’4 and 5’3 and skinny. So I didn’t expect a big baby/person. But now I’m so worried. My baby spits up all day, he absolutely has reflux. But on his current formula, he doesn’t seem to have much pain with the reflux and is very happy and healthy, laughing all the time, cooing and babbling, rolling both ways and trying very hard to scoot forward. I didn’t think the spitting up could be affecting his weight gain but they said it might and said if we wanted to, they would prescribe him medication for it. I really want to avoid putting my baby on meds. My baby holds his own bottle, if you put it in front of his face he will grab it with both hands and bring it to his mouth. He also shows interest in food when we are eating in front of him. Should we introduce some easy on the stomach solid like banana to see how he does? In the US it seems that’s almost never recommended before 6mo but in my husbands home country that’s recommended starting at 4mo which is what his mother did to him and his siblings without any issues. I just need to figure a way to get him to gain more so he doesn’t fall behind. I know it doesn’t matter much what he is compared to other babies, but it worries me that his weight has dropped from 15th percentile when he was born to now 4th. Any thoughts are welcome 🙏
