Completed nodes on atlas are visual clutter

Completed nodes on atlas are visual clutter

The biggest gripe I have with the infinite atlas is that it constantly grows, eventually turning into a massive canvas that is full of completed sections.

At its core, atlas is really just a visual representation of an underlying node network, and I don't see the purpose of permanently displaying completed nodes, besides maintaining connections between other, uncompleted nodes.
Is there something I am overlooking here?.

Since every node already carries its own properties (biome, etc.), the atlas could be dynamically re-drawn after node completion, replacing the completed node with direct connections between available nodes, while repositioning the remaining available nodes closer together in a way that still preserves a visually coherent world layout.

This would significantly cut down on the visual clutter while keeping progression and structure intact and keeping the atlas size more manageable as you keep exploring.

Here's a simple paint illustration.
